Sculpted by Malaysia's “Prince of Couture”, Bernard Chandran, The Grand Kebaya is a masterpiece inspired by the traditional Nyonya kebaya. Its intricately revealing embroidery evokes the romance of the past. Bernard's creation features a “voile” of interlocking gold discs, embodying elegance and heritage.
This custom-made metal “Kebaya-ku” installation, placed as the centerpiece at The RuMa Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, is a 3-D work of art. Crafted from geometrical gold squares and butterfly-shaped cut metal, it draws inspiration from traditional metal elements used in auspicious occasions. Gold was chosen for its symbolism of prosperity and health, reflecting Malaysians' love for all things that shine.
