After returning from Paris, Bernard Chandran established his first boutique in KL Plaza, Kuala Lumpur, marking the beginning of his fashion empire in Malaysia & launched his fashion brand.

Designed the evening gown for Miss Malaysia Universe, gaining recognition for his work in pageantry and high-profile events.
2003
He opened his flagship boutique in Kuala Lumpur, earning accolades as Designer of the Year at the Malaysian International Fashion Awards (MIFA) while Tatler Malaysia celebrated him as the Master of His Craft.
2005
Bernard made history at London Fashion Week (LFW) by debuting his first Autumn/Winter 2006 Ready-to-Wear collection, becoming the first Malaysian designer to grace this prestigious international stage.
2006
Bernard Chandran launched his inaugural Petang Raya collection, a modern interpretation of traditional Malay attire, which has since become an annual highlight in Malaysian fashion.
2007
Bernard expanded his brand to Paris with the opening of a showroom. That same year, he received numerous accolades, including the Brand Laureate Award for Best Brands in Fashion Haute Couture and the Martell Elite of the Year Award.
He was also appointed Head Judge for Project Runway Malaysia and was conferred the title of Dato’ the Malaysian equivalent of a knighthood by the Sultan of Pahang in recognition of his contributions to fashion.

2009
Bernard Chandran unveiled his collection at Paris Fashion Week. Global icons like Lady Gaga, Estelle and Rihanna donned his designs, showcasing his work on international platforms. He was also honored with the Special Achievement Award by the Malaysian International Fashion Alliance (MIFA).

Introduced his Ready-to-Wear collection, expanding his reach to a broader audience & also designed major Asian celebrities, including Bollywood stars like Datuk Siti Nurhaliza and Indian film personalities.

Launched Area 27, a concept store showcasing innovative fashion pieces.

Designed the official attire for Malaysian athletes at the London Olympics and revealed a collection featuring all-black models, making a statement for diversity.

Celebrated 20 years in fashion with a grand anniversary show in Kuala Lumpur and curated ‘The Contemporary Malay Wedding’ exhibition, highlighting his contributions to modernizing traditional attire.
